Why I Offer a 3D Breast Simulator to Every Patient
MYARBREA BREAST SIMULATOR
In my practice, I prioritize achieving a natural result that appears authentic to the individual. This is only attainable when we are in agreement on the concept of “natural” for the patient’s body, as verbal descriptions alone are often insufficient.
Descriptions such as “full C” or “slightly larger” are subjective. A 350cc silicone implant may appear differently on a 5’2” patient compared to a 5’9” patient. Factors like chest width, existing breast tissue, skin elasticity, and shape significantly influence the appearance of an implant on an individual.
A breast augmentation simulator eliminates the uncertainty. Instead of attempting to visualize a result, patients can observe it on their own photographs, rendered in three dimensions from various angles. This simulator serves as the closest approximation to a “try-before-you-buy” experience for cosmetic surgery, contributing to the increased productivity and reduced anxiety during my consultations compared to those reported at other practices.
What You Can Visualize
The simulator isn't just a size slider. You can preview:
- Implant volume: Compare different CC sizes side by side on your own body.
- Symmetry: Adjust each side independently (most women have some natural asymmetry)
- Shape & nipple placement adjustment: Including how a lift might change your result if we're discussing a combined augmentation-mastopexy
What it can't replace is a surgical evaluation — things like your tissue thickness, muscle anatomy, and skin quality still need an in-person exam. Think of the simulator as your starting point, not the final plan.
- Projection & profile: Further refinement and customization of implant selection will be performed in the office by simulating moderate, high, moderate-high or extra-high profile implants.
Why This Matters: From Guessing to Informed Decision-Making
Breast augmentation has one of the highest revision rates in plastic surgery — and a large percentage of those revisions happen because the result didn't match the patient's expectation. Not because the surgery was bad, but because there was a communication gap.
As someone who has built a significant part of my practice around revision and reconstructive cases, I can tell you: the best revision is the one you never need. Using a simulator upfront is one of the most effective ways I've found to prevent "I wish I'd gone bigger" (or smaller) regret.
