Lasers are light-based devices that enable targeted treatment of the skin’s structural components. They can be used to resurface the skin, improve pigmentation, induce tightening and even eliminate visible blood vessels and redness. It is important to select someone with experience with these powerful devices, as there are serious side effects if they are not used properly.
Fraxel® DUAL is a dual fiber (Erbium 1550nm/Thulium 1927nm) non-ablative laser that specifically targets both the water and pigment components of skin. The laser produces microscopic columns of energy that penetrate into your skin and address fine lines and wrinkles, scarring, pigmentation and melasma as well as generalized textural irregularities. This energy stimulates a repair process within your skin, whereby collagen is remodeled, leaving your skin tighter, smoother and with significant improvement in bothersome pigmentation. The expected “downtime” is 3-5 days and patients can experience mild peeling as the skin heals.
Clear + Brilliant® and Clear + Brilliant Perméa®, is also a dual fiber (Erbium 1550nm/Thulium 1927nm) non-ablative laser system that addressed the early signs of aging. Through multiple and regular treatments there are noticeable improvements in fine lines, skin tone and overall skin texture. The Perméa® setting specifically addresses and corrects uneven pigmentation that characteristically manifests as brown spots distributed across the face. Following these procedures, patients typically only experience 3 hours of mid redness. The following morning, your skin will feel like a light sandpaper, which is easily washed off with yout daily cleanser, revealing the rejuvenated skin beneath.
While the Fraxel® DUAL and the Clear + Brilliant® and Clear + Brilliant Perméa® lasers have similar affects on the skin, the Fraxel® DUAL is a more powerful laser, meaning you trade less treatments for more downtime. Come in for a consultation and we will discuss which laser is right for you.
V-beam® is a pulsed-dye laser that specifically targets blood vessels and redness in the skin. Chronic skin irritation from natural oil production and sun damage can cause small blood vessels to appear on the face, commonly on the cheeks and around the nose. These telangiectasias are bothersome to many patients and easily treated with the V-beam® laser. In addition, the redness that accompanies Rosacea is also treatable using V-beam® in conjunction with a proper skin care regimen.
It is important to keep in mind that laser treatment typically requires multiple treatments to achieve the desired result.
