Skin Care
The skin is the largest organ in your body yet routinely neglected. Without proper skin care, impurities surface, pigmentation worsens and ageing accelerates. To be cliché, many skin care regimens overpromise and underdeliver. This is largely because the skin is often only treated at the surface level, failing to properly control pigment or restore vitality. The most common skin issue that I address in my practice are acne, rosacea, melasma, sun damage and facial aging. It’s common for patients to have pursued many different treatment strategies only to be frustrated by a lack of improvement.
When I see patient’s for skin consultations, I review their current skin regimen to understand what has worked and what has not. We will discuss your current skin goals and the corrective measures that need to be taken. You will leave with a comprehensive understanding of your skin treatment plan and the time course for improvement. Peels and laser procedures will also be discussed as these can be important adjuncts to any skin treatment strategy. Treating skin is one of my many passions and I hope to see you soon.
Skin Health
HOW TO KEEP YOUR SKIN HEALTHY
Skin health is a science that treats the skin components at a cellular level to achieve flawless complexion and texture. A customized skin-care regimen can aggressively treat pigmentation and textural abnormalities as well as optimize the skin to tolerate more aggressive procedures such as lasers and peels. This combined approach leads to an unprecedented lasting renewal of the skin.
Skin Health by ZO
Through my training with world-renowned skin health expert, Dr. Zein Obagi , I have come to appreciate the science behind restoration and maintenance of overall skin health. Topical and systemic agents that affect skin at the cellular level are the key to long-lasting rejuvenation. At birth, a baby’s skin is flawless. Over time, however, genetic predispositions and environmental exposures synergistically instigate noticeable imperfections.
Treatment must take place at the cellular level in order to definitively target the origin of visible and non-visible skin abnormalities. Discoloration (melasma, hypopigmentation, hyperpigmentation), textural irregularities (scars, wrinkles, large pores), aging, photodamage and inflammatory conditions (rosacea and acne) are approached similarly. Specific topical agents are used to improve the superficial layer of the skin (the epidermis) while simultaneously stimulating the deeper layer (the dermis) where long-term maximal improvement is derived. Once skin health is restored, it is important to adhere to a tailored regimen that focuses on stabilizing the result.
